Hello, Blue Sky Inner Circle!

Today we are coming to you not as Blue Sky Luxury Travels but as Blue Sky Relief Foundation. When Shanna Dickerson first began her luxury travel agency in 2010, the seed of Blue Sky Relief was planted too. Now it is a fullfledged nonprofit organization partnered with American Airlines, the USVI Police Department, and Alaqua Animal Refuge just to name a few!

How It All Began:

When Shanna Dickerson started working in the USVI, she saw how mistreated and neglected animals were. She began her grassroots movement saving the animals she came across.

Each year she expanded her efforts to save the lives of these animals that never fail to fill our hearts. First she began donating to animal shelters, then extended opportunities for her clients to donate, adopt, or take animals in need back to their respective home countries.

Current Work:

The Kindness Club: Bringing Children and Animals Together

Teaching kindness with animals extends to the better treatment of fellow humans. That’s why Blue Sky Relief has added animal treatment to public and private elementary school curriculum in the USVI. Classes are set to kickoff this fall on St. John, St. Croix, and St. Thomas. Next month, two educational videos will be filmed for the upcoming school year for preK-12 learning remotely. Contact us if you are interested in watching the videos or have contacts to get these shared in more schools — we want as many kids around the world to watch these videos.

Spay & Neuter Pop-up Clinics

In the USVI, animal abuse goes unpunished and is sadly widespread. To combat the issue Blue Sky Relief is working with law enforcement and Virgin Island senators to increase animal cruelty penalties and incarcerations for offenders. We are also asking for more full-time animal cruelty investigators to enforce these new amendments.

We also have these new laws already in effect protecting animals!

1. Animal adoptions are tax deductible.
2. High taxes for puppy mills to disincentivize the inhumane practice.

Legal Impacts

Blue Sky Relief is excited to sponsor pop-up spay and neuter clinics to limit the number of stray/neglected animals on the islands. The convenience of pop-up clinics significantly increases participation and coupled with our rescue efforts, will ensure no fur babies go uncared for on the islands.
