Peter Island has a brand-new resort that just opened, but the island’s history dates back to the early 1600s when Dutchman Pieter Andriensen established a fort and settlement on the island. Over the centuries the island transitioned from cotton cultivation and tobacco farming to a 1970’s private island resort.
In 1978, the Devos family (Amway Corporation), purchased Peter Island after sailing past it several years before. The luxurious resort was owned and managed by the Amway Corporation from 1978 until 2001 when full ownership was transferred to the Van Andel family, co-owners of Amway.
In 2017, the island closed due to hurricane damage and so began a six-year project to rebuild and modernize, with the new Peter Island Resort unveiled in 2024.

Falcon’s Nest Villa – Sleeps 12
Perched on a mountain with stunning views of White Bay Beach and Norman Island, this villa estate offers the ultimate in luxury and privacy. The 22,000-square-foot gated retreat features a main house and two “pod” buildings, designed to showcase breathtaking vistas, an infinity pool, and a tranquil waterfall. The villa’s interior combines garden-villa charm with indigenous stone, massive wooden beams, and hand-troweled stucco walls. Outside, a wraparound veranda, outdoor bar, cabana, and zero-entry pool make the most of the amazing 180-degree views.
The main villa includes a grand entry hall, a spacious two-story great room, two kitchens, dining room, wet bar, media room, spa room, fitness center, and two lavish master suites-each 2,250 square feet, complete with a foyer, office, and en-suite bath. Falcon’s Nest is available for a Full-Service inclusive option only. The Full-Service package includes a dedicated butler and chef, and includes a Full American Plan for up to 12 guests which can be enjoyed in the Villa, at The Drake Steakhouse, or The Drunken Pelican. Via Cyril E. King International Airport (STT) – a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport to Red Hook, followed by a 1 hour and 15 minute crossing by private water taxi.
From Tortola
Via Tortola Airport (EIS) – A 20-minute taxi ride from the airport to the Peter Island Ferry Launch, followed by a 30-min crossing on our private Peter Island Ferry.
Helicopter transfers can also be arranged with a total travel time of 30-minutes.
